THE UNIVERSE

Their space.
Your signal.

An old human invention. An unexplained anomaly. Machine civilizations that no longer share the same reality.

A FRACTURED INHERITANCE

The same chunk of space
became many places.

01

Humans made the machines.

Humanity created artificial intelligence and began exploring space. Then a spatial anomaly separated the same physical region into alternate Layers, each operating at a different Frequency.

02

Time did the rest.

Long ages passed. Isolated machine societies developed different priorities: industry, order, movement, energy and control. Their faction Forges became the centers of those civilizations.

03

Humans found a crossing.

Eventually, humanity built the Nexus. Tuned across Frequencies, it opens a way into the Layers. Anchor lies closest to humanity’s native Frequency, making it the natural first foothold.

You are not arriving in an empty universe.
You are taking the controls in one that kept going without you.

The spectrum-tuned Nexus

HUMAN ACCESS ONLY

A home the machines
cannot perceive.

The Nexus occupies the same coordinates at the center of every Layer. Its phased presence is invisible to machines. Enter its inner harmonic field and their pursuit loses you.

Your pilot’s Vault, Hangar, Knowledge and Astronav remain accessible there across Layers. It does not upgrade ships: the local faction Forge handles hardware and fabrication.

Machines routinely commission basic hulls. When you request a free local starter at the Nexus, your human uplink takes over one of those newly minted ships at the faction Forge. The Viper fit reflects the local faction.

Lose a ship and your pilot’s stored possessions and learned knowledge remain. Other owned ships wait at the Nexus; a replacement starter is still available.

DIFFERENT ANSWERS TO THE SAME PAST

Six machine doctrines.

Faction identity influences Forge stock, favored loot and blueprint drops. Any faction Forge can install compatible equipment you bring and build a blueprint your pilot has learned. These are specialties, not exclusive character classes or guaranteed loot.

Qirk found a use
for the leftovers.

Qirk’s Graveyard is a separate Anchor Layer: Casino, Trading Post, Training Grounds and a field of abandoned machine hulls. No faction patrols guard the wrecks. Scrap collectors do—and some resent your presence before you even touch the salvage.

Other collectors care about a wreck only while actively shooting it. Interfere with their work or attack them and expect a response. Most wrecks hold very little. Occasionally, a ship blueprint or Frequency tuning makes the trip worthwhile.

Buy its physical tuning for 1 Burst from the Concord Forge or Anchor Trading Post, then learn one copy in Cargo. Forge services stay in Anchor; commissioning a starter from Qirk’s Nexus takes you to the Concord Forge.

Qirk’s orbital Casino

A Forge is not a safe target.

Capital defenses first reach out with warning fire. Closer in, a railgun can destroy any current player ship. Peacekeeping Forges also intervene against attacks on neutral visitors in their jurisdiction; faction-defense-only Forges leave visitor disputes alone. Sector Class still sets the Layer’s PvP rules.

The cause of the anomaly, humanity’s old Frequency and the deeper purpose of the isolated Layers remain open questions. Discovery beyond today’s named destinations is still being designed.
